Drag is an art form that celebrates fluidity and inclusivity. It is a creative medium for those who embrace both their masculinity and femininity. In this gender binary world in which men are expected be aggressive and rigid whereas women are expected to be dainty and emotional, Drag Queens are aggressive, emotional, bold, and expressive all at the same time.
Blurred Lines is a celebration of drag and more importantly of its people, it is a journey into their inner circle of flashy clothes, pompous makeup, and loud performances. The Queens say that their most favourite thing about performing at a drag show is that they get to express themselves freely, be whoever and do whatever they please. Because the drag community is a safe place for people who do not conform to the rules and expectations of the heteronormative society; it is an art form in which men wear makeup and act ‘ladylike’ blurring conventional gender lines.
At a Drag show everyone is welcome, accepted and appreciated for just being themselves. So, the next time you want to experience a world of abandon go to a drag show where the queens get loud and flashy, and of course, don’t forget to tip a Queen!
